1. Bandage Removal
Once the tattoo is done, I will offer one of two bandage options:
Saniderm: This sticker like bandage can be left on for a couple of days, it is water proof and protects skin from dirt or bacteria if working in a hectic workspace (or if you just want to not worry about aftercare for a couple of days 😅🖤). Must be removed while running under lukewarm water in the sink or in the shower. Taking it off dry will be painful. Not ideal for people with sensitive skin, adhesive sensitivity, eczema, etc.
Classic Saran Wrap: Most widely used, classic way of wrapping a tattoo. Can be left on for at most 4 hours or removed when you arrive at home, your choice. Easy to remove and aftercare process can begin right after removal.
Once either of these bandages are removed you can now start the aftercare process.

2. Cleaning your tattoo
New tattoos should be cleaned twice a day for the first three days after getting a tattoo.
Gently wash your tattoo with: mild soap, unscented soap, or antibacterial soap. If you don’t have skin sensitivities, Gold Dial soap works well. For sensitive skin types, please use an unscented soap or Unscented Cerave.
You can wash your tattoo in the sink or in the shower.
Use your hands to lather the tattoo gently with a bit of soap and water. Do not use loofahs or anything that will irritate your tattooed skin. Rinse off the remaining soap with a bit of water. Let the tattoo air dry or use a clean paper towel to pat dry. Do not use a bath towel to dry off your new tattoo.
Do not submerge your new tattoo in a bath, showers are preferred while healing.

3. Aftercare Ointment Application
Apply a very small amount of ointment after washing to the tattoo. It should be a very thin layer to where the tattoo can still breathe.
I recommend anything that could keep your skin moisturized and is friendly to your skin type. The most common ointments that work well are:
Aquaphor, A&D, Hustle Butter, Lubriderm, Cerave, etc.
After the initial three days after getting the tattoo, you can stop washing your tattoo twice a day and stop using the ointment. Only apply a mild lotion such as Cerave or Lubriderm if your skin is very dry and itchy.
You can now wash your tattoo when you shower only, just make sure to keep using your hands to wash it for at least 3 weeks. After that you can use a loofah or scrubber.

4. Normal skin healing process
Tattooed skin is very sensitive when exposed to the sun, please keep it protected from the sun as much as you can when healing.
The tattooed skin area will be red, irritated and warm for 3-4 days after getting tattooed. 4-7 days after, you will see your tattoo start getting dry, itchy and peeling, this is a normal process please don’t pick at the scabs or try to scrub them off. They will fall off naturally in the shower.
For a tattoo to fully heal, it takes about 4-6 weeks to please be patient!
You can then apply sunblock after it’s healed if you’ll be out in the sun for an extended period of time.
